Removal of Isolan Dark Blue 2SGL-01 from aqueous solutions onto calcined and uncalcined (Mg-Zn)/(Al-Fe)-(CO3)/Cl layered double hydroxides

Abstract The adsorption process of the industrialized dye Isolan Dark Blue 2SGL-01 (IDB) onto (Mg-Zn)/(Al-Fe)-(CO 3 )/Cl layered double hydroxides (LDHs) coded LDH21 and LDH22 its calcined products CLDHs (CLDH21 CLDH22), respectively, was investigated. characterization LDHs before after loading with IDB by Fourier transform infrared, scanning electron microscope surface area measurements showed a typical hydrotalcite structure confirmed IDB. parameters; initial pH, shaking time, adsorbent dose, concentration temperature were studied. optimum conditions for pH 4.3 time h. A complete removal (> 99%) achieved using dosage 2.0 g L − 1 or LDH22, 3.0 LDH21. processes suggested to be best described pseudo-second order kinetics Langmuir-type isotherm monolayer capacities 75, 91, 427 530 mg , LDH21, CLDH21 CLDH22, respectively. loaded recovered from Na 2 CO . CLDH22 capacity Its thermodynamic parameters ∆G ∆H ∆S indicated that spontaneous endothermic in nature. successfully applied simulated dyeing efficiency 97%.
